Pair of French Art Deco Reclining Sling Leather Lounge Chairs, 1940s

Pair of Art Deco reclining sling back leather lounge chairs. During production, the wooden parts are submitted through a specialized process whereby the wood is dipped into acid in order to soften the fibres of the wood. Softened fibres are then removed using a metal wire brush. This sophisticated process, which was popularized in France by designers such as Elizabeth Eyre de Lanux and Jean Michel Frank, improves the surface of the wood by creating greater depth and texture within the wood grain, resulting in a much more detailed and visually appealing surface. The chairs are in brown leather and in very good condition.
